ICE Claims Using CDC Guidelines While Reports Show the Contrary

Raise the Voices is investigating claims against ICE and their treatment of detainees.

There are two reports filed by both Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice and Freedom for Immigrants. They have spoken with detainees and reported of HDQ Neutral being used in un-ventilated areas. It is also claimed that the chemical is being sprayed over 50 times a day and has caused bleeding and pain. The manufacturer of the chemical is Spartan Chemical which advises it can cause skin burns and serious health issues when inhaled. Link is here with that information – https://www.spartanchemical.com/sds/downloads/AGHS/EN/1202.pdf.

I sent an email to the spokesperson Alexx Pons of Department of Homeland Security U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. I asked if there was any response to these claim or further information that I can be provided with and I received the below response.
